Did you know that in winter time the skin of your pet can go dry just as your skin? Also, during the colder months, we don’t feel so comfortable given our pets baths because we don’t want them shivering from cold. We compiled some tips for the winter care of your pet’s skin and fur.

- In or out? If your pet spends more time outdoors and maybe sleeps outside, make sure to have a warm, dry, and draft free shelter. Pet’s fur coat isn’t enough protection during winter, so stock up on some winter clothes as well.

- If you’re cold, your beloved pet will most likely be cold too. So snuggle up, keep your pet warm and safe.

- Some dogs shed more during winter, so to stay on top of it, make it a daily goal to brush your dog for at least five minutes, with extra attention given to their skin condition. Brushing will distribute skin oils, helping moisturise your dog and relieve winter dryness.

- Winter dries the skin, so you have to pay attention to their paws. Sidewalks and concrete get cold this time of year, so if you take daily walks, rinse your dog’s feet with warm water when you’re back and ensure they’re dry.

- Another attention area is their noses. During winter the skin of this area is more prone to drying out. If you notice dry, crusty or irritated skin, the best is to moisturise the area.

- Many pet owners reduced the amount of wet baths during winter but this could cause itchiness, bad smell or dull fur. Dry baths are the best option to keep their skin and fur clean.
