Dry baths for your pet?

The most common way to clean your pet is, of course, a wet bath. But what happens when your dog refuses to get into the tub? Or you have a cat that hates water (probably all cats)? Or when they are just in need of a quick refreshment after the daily walk or that beach trip? That’s when a dry bath comes handy isn’t? Many of you have told us that you prefer a wet bath but we think you should give a dry bath a try. Why? We can think of a few reasons: ⠀

1 - Some dogs, cats and other pets often run for the hills when it’s time for a bath. Not all dogs like to be fluffy and clean. And don’t even mention 'B' word to a cat, chances are they will hate you for it and probably scar you for life. This is when a dry bath will help you. You just need to sit, sprinkle and brush. This way you can extend the time in between wet baths and make grooming time a happy time.

2 - Sometimes you won't always have enough time for a full wet bath. Its ok, in some cases bathing your pet can be tiring and time-consuming. If this is you, have your dry bath tools handy and you'll have them fresh and clean in under 5 minutes!

3 - The conditions may not be right. Winter can be a hard time to give wet baths or on days where the rain never ceases to end. A dry bath can happen anywhere, anytime.

4 - Your pet only needs a quick refreshment. Even though many dogs and cats clean themselves exceptionally well, most still need a little help to keep looking, and feeling, their very best. Sometimes, they only need a quick clean and brush after a hike or beach day.

Dry baths are not meant to be a permanent replacement for a good, old bath with water and shampoo. Dry baths are a trick you can pull in between regular washes, to extend the time between wet baths or when the weather or perhaps your pet is not cooperating.

PURR-fect Combo!

Our <a

The brush allows the product to spread all over the fur and your pet will get a quick refresh. Our powder formula absorbs oils, odours and dirt. Just spread some of the product and brush a few times and you will have a fresh pet in no time. ⠀<br

Make your Pet Instafamous

Who doesn’t love to take tons of photos of their pets? But sometimes is hard to catch a good photo as they’re always moving and running around. Not to worry! We have some tricks for taking high-quality pictures that would make your pet instafamous.

1) Take tons of photos. The more you take, the better your chances of getting the perfect shot.

2) Choosing the background. To make your pet stand out make sure to find an awesome background or scenery. A white sandy beach or the green trees of a little forest will instantly upgrade your shot. Take in consideration the colour of your dog too: No black backgrounds for black dogs, brown backgrounds for brown dogs, and so on.

3) Treats are key. Same as when you trained your pet, treats are important to get them use to the camera.

4)Take the photo from your pet’s level; this will give a more natural view. Also, your pet eyes are the window to their beautiful soul, get some shots featuring them.

5) Natural light is the best light for all photos. When possible avoid flash since can cause red-eyes and also upset your pet. Instead try to go outside or, if it is not possible, in a room well-lit by a large window.

6) Patience will get you the shot. No matter how excited your furry friend is, if you are patient enough, he will end up by relaxing and you will have the opportunity to get a decent shot.

Since we know how hard it can be for some pet parents to capture the perfect shot of their pets, we have our Dr Zoo Selfie Stick to help you catch their attention and snap the perfect shot.

You just need to slip the attachment onto the top of your phone, place the Dr Zoo Selfie Ball on top and snap!. You can use the front view camera to take a selfie or the rear to take cute portraits of your pet without losing their attention.

Features:

Dr Zoo Selfie Stick is compatible with iPhones, Androids & Tablets.

Easily install to any mobile phone and portable.

The tennis ball can also be used for pet agility training and playtime.

<a

Drying your pet's fur

We all know how much dogs love to dip in the water or rolling in the mud during the outdoor adventures. And what happens when you’re in your daily walk and starts pouring rain? Then you have to prepare for the inevitable shake off as soon as your dog walks in through the front door. And what happens when you have to give your dog a bath? Dying can be one of the most daunting tasks when it comes to grooming your dog. But you don’t have to fear about water and mud going all over you, your car or your house.

We don’t want to seem bias but, Our Shake it Off Shammy is the perfect tool to have handy to clean and dry your dog. It holds more water than a regular cotton towel and stronger against ripping and tearing. Is so easy to use and only needs to be rung out to dry. The drawback with cotton towels at the pool, gym or when travelling is that they get very heavy when wet (and cold) and take a long time to dry.

Here some benefits of using our Shake it Off Shammy instead of a normal towel:

Pulls water off the coat like a sponge, dry quickly and easily.

Easy cleaning, no hair will stick on.

SUPER absorbent microfiber soaks MORE water and mud than other

Dries dogs FASTER than a cotton towel or blow dryer

Easy to wash

Doesn’t hold odour

Quick drying without rubbing to prevent knotting

Easy to store

Machine washable

As the shammy becomes full and heavy just wring it out and then return to drying your pet. After use, you just need to rinse it out with water. Wring it out and return to the storage canister, until the next bath or adventure.

These are great for drying off wet dogs after a swim in the sea or a run in the rain. Applied straight afterwards these will keep nasty wet dog smells to a minimum.

<span

Road trips with your Pet

There’s nothing more exciting than a road trip. You get to explore new places, listen to good music, try that coffee place you saw on Instagram and if you add your pet to the equation everything gets a lot better. But, do you know what you should pack for them? To ensure a pleasant trip for everyone involved, we’ve put together some tips for helping your pet have a safe trip in the car.

Book pet-friendly accommodations

This is vital when you’re planning your route and destination. Not all hotels accept pets, and even campsites often have restrictions. This may require contacting individual hotels in advance to find out their pet policies, including breed restrictions, rules, and possible fees.

Plan your route

Make sure you schedule enough stops for your pet to have a break so they can stretch their legs and go to the toilet. A 15-minute break every 3 hours is recommended if you have an adult dog that is also toilet trained. For puppies, keep it less than 2 hours. Check your route for dog parks and pet-friendly attractions as well.

Prepare your dog for the trip

If your pet is not used to spending time in the car, or suffer from car sickness, it’s best to feed your pet a few hours before you get in the car. You can also start to prepare your pet a few weeks before the trip by taking it in the car for short trips and increasing the time spent in the car. Before you head out, take a nice, long walk, so their ready to rest and relax for the trip.

ID tag

Sounds silly, we know but you can never be too careful when it comes to your pet is safety. A road trip means unexpected stops, new places and people so it is important that your pet carries their ID tag at all times, even in the car, and your contact details are up to date.

Food

Pack enough food for the whole trip and then some more. Don’t forget to bring some of your pet’s favourite treats as well, as you can use the treats to help to settle them down in the car. If possible, take bottled water, this will be better for your dog to drink to prevent stomach discomfort from drinking from sources they aren’t used to.

Toys and Extras

Bring a few toys or a pillow in the car to give your dog a sense of familiarity on the road. You will also need a portable water and food dish. It’s also a good idea to pack an extra leash and collar.

Grooming on the go

Bring your dog’s brush since grooming your dog on the roads is essential for reducing shedding. Also, if your dog only uses a particular brand of shampoo, don’t forget to pack these since you may not be able to purchase them easily while travelling. Pack some towels as well to easily clean or wipe your dog when he or she gets a bit dirty.

<span

5 tips to take care of your pet paws

Your pet paws are as delicate as your feet. Like ours, they need to be taken care of and pampered. You wouldn’t walk across a hot parking lot or a snow covered field without the proper protection, the same applies for your pooch. Paws pads need attention and care and you should always be aware of the nail length, cracked pads and of objects stuck in between paw pads.

We have compiled a few easy steps to follow all year round to protect your pet paws and to prevent problems such as torn nails, pad burns, and frostbite.

Trim

If all you can hear when your pet is walking is ‘click, click, click’, then is time to clip the nails. Nails should barely skim the ground. With a little bit of practice, you can do this yourself but if you don’t feel confident, most vets or groomer offer this service. Make sure to also trim the fur around the paws and between the toes.

Examine

When walking, hiking or at the beach with your dog, always pay attention to their paws and how they’re walking. Sometimes they can step on glass or sharp things that can lacerate their paw pads or the paws themselves. Things like thorns, burs, or sharp objects can also be stuck in their paws while on walks. Always check their paws and pads after every adventure.

Wipe off

Ice, snow, salt, and other chemicals found on the streets can be harmful to a pet’s paws. Always make sure to wipe their paws when they come inside after the daily walks, hiking or a day at the beach. If take your dog out into the snow, try to put snow booties on. In summer, put your palm on the ground and hold for 5 seconds, if it is ok for your hand then it's ok for paws.

Routine

By nature, pets don’t like when their paws are touched. Like with bath time, food time, grooming time, etc. you must help and train your pooch to feel comfortable with you being around and checking its paws and pads. If you’re getting or have a puppy, make sure you get it used to have its feet meddled with and nails trimmed. If you have an adult dog, try to start a routine and like with a puppy, treats can make the trick.

Pamper

Your pet’s pads can easily get dry and cracked so a moisturiser is a must have. Don’t use moisturisers for humans as sometimes they can contain ingredients that are not suitable for pets especially when ingested and you know they lick their paws all the time. Take the time to give it a nice and relaxing paw massage. Rub between the pads at the bottom of his paw, and then rub between each of his toes.

<a

Winter Pet Care

Did you know that in winter time the skin of your pet can go dry just as your skin? Also, during the colder months, we don’t feel so comfortable given our pets baths because we don’t want them shivering from cold. We compiled some tips for the winter care of your pet’s skin and fur.

- In or out? If your pet spends more time outdoors and maybe sleeps outside, make sure to have a warm, dry, and draft free shelter. Pet’s fur coat isn’t enough protection during winter, so stock up on some winter clothes as well.

- If you’re cold, your beloved pet will most likely be cold too. So snuggle up, keep your pet warm and safe.

- Some dogs shed more during winter, so to stay on top of it, make it a daily goal to brush your dog for at least five minutes, with extra attention given to their skin condition. Brushing will distribute skin oils, helping moisturise your dog and relieve winter dryness.

- Winter dries the skin, so you have to pay attention to their paws. Sidewalks and concrete get cold this time of year, so if you take daily walks, rinse your dog’s feet with warm water when you’re back and ensure they’re dry.

- Another attention area is their noses. During winter the skin of this area is more prone to drying out. If you notice dry, crusty or irritated skin, the best is to moisturise the area.

- Many pet owners reduced the amount of wet baths during winter but this could cause itchiness, bad smell or dull fur. Dry baths are the best option to keep their skin and fur clean.

What do we recommend? Our Dr Zoo Winter Warriors

Our Our second winter warrior is the 1) Rub-a-dub

Bathe your dog with a shampoo specifically made for dogs and made of natural ingredients. A natural bath is the best way to take care of your pet's skin and fur. Dog's coat and skin are sensible and chemicals and detergents will only make it worse. Use instead, natural cleansers and ingredients that will keep their skin healthy and their coats shiny. You may want to rub a dry leather chamois over your dog's coat to buff and polish it.

2) Brush away

Groom your pet regularly. You should brush your pet every few days, regardless of long or short hair. Long-haired dog breeds — such as Irish setters, border collies, shelties and Pomeranians — may need to be brushed twice a week. Cats also need brushing sessions. Aim for at least weekly brushing sessions. Take your time to untangle any knots and always brush with the lie of the fur to distribute the natural oils through the hair and use a comb to get rid of tangles. Make sure you find the right 3) Healthy Eating

When deciding what to feed your pet, pay close attention to changes in the condition of the skin and coat. Many pets have food sensitivities, so it is important to keep trying to find out what works best for your unique animal.

4) Do you need a conditioner?

Natural Conditioners can help with a dry coat and are often left in so the fur can absorb the nourishing ingredients. Conditioners or Grooming Creams can also be applied in between baths if your dog is getting a little smelly and you want to give them a quick refreshment. Stay away from Silicone-based ingredients can build up on the fur over time and cause fur to feel limp and rough. Silicone can also make their skin itchy and sensitive.

5) Lots of love

Always make the grooming time a positive experience. The best way to calm your pet’s fears is to train it from a very young age to be comfortable with the process.

<img

Furry Mother's Day

Everyone who owns a pet knows that first, they are part of the family and second they’re like a child, not only with their sometimes naughty behaviour but because we love them unconditionally.

We want to celebrate furry mums because why not? They are sometimes sleep deprived, they have to take care of them when they’re sick and they have to raise and train good pets. How do we know? Because we know many of them and we want to share their stories of unconditional furry love with you. So we send our own reporter (AKA Fat Cat) to interview a few of them.

Piper & Lia

Fat Cat: Tell us a little bit about you and Piper

Lia: Piper came into our lives almost 4 years ago and has no doubt changed us for the better. It was actually my partner, Andrew, who wanted to get a dog and it was me that took a little convincing but as soon as we found Piper and went to visit her at just 8 weeks old I fell in love. Cavoodles are such a loyal, loving and affectionate breed that Piper and I became so close very quickly and she is definitely my 'baby'. I love spending time with Piper and taking her out on weekends to the park, beach and cafes. Through having Piper I have also met so many other amazing Cavoodle and dog owners who have become close friends and even started a doggie related business, Oodle&co out of my love for Piper so I am definitely a fully-fledged crazy dog lady now!

Fat Cat: What’s the best part of being a furry mum?

Lia: The unconditional love that a dog provides is so valuable. Piper has been by my side through the best and worst times over the last 4 years and I never feel alone. The best part of my day is waking up to her cuddles and coming home to an excited wagging tail each night. Being a fur mum has also made me more active and social as I love taking Piper out and about and meeting other dog owners and their pups some of whom have become close friends. I have met and become friends with people who come from all walks of life, of different ages and backgrounds yet we are all united by the love of our dogs and I think that is so special. I can honestly say that bringing Piper into our lives is one of the best things we have ever done.

Emma & Winston

Fat Cat: Tell us a little bit about you and Winston

Emma: I have always been a dog lover, previous to Winston I had a slightly mad but wonderful boxer. Not having room for a big dog I decided a pug was the next best thing, little did I realise what I was in for.

Pugs are a whole different breed and I really believe only fellow pug owners know where I am coming from. I call Winston the Chinese Emperor because I swear he has been on this earth before. There is nothing I can teach him that he doesn’t already know. But a dog with such intelligent and ability to communicate and demand what they want isn’t for the faint-hearted. A lot of hard work and discipline has gone into our relationship. We have a lot of fun and our relationship is built on trust. He follows me happily off the lead, at no stage is he tempted to leave my side because he knows he is safe with me. This makes him an absolute pleasure to have around. We love to get out and about together, our weekly trip to the markets is a treat for both of us (literally), we have swimming lesson together, of which Winston isn’t keen on, but every day is full on fun, laughter and adventures.

Fat Cat: What’s the best part of being a furry mum?

Emma: Being Winston’s mum is one of the best roles in the world. Very rarely does he ever get in trouble or do anything that would upset me. Sharing my every day with a squishy faced, round rolly ball of love is the best part of every day.

Charlie, Frankie & Jess

Fat Cat: Tell us a little bit about you and Charlie and Frankie?

Jess: Charlie and Frankie are my two beautiful English cocker spaniels - my golden two! Charlie is one and a half and Frankie is three months old. I searched for a cocker spaniel for months when looking for Charlie - I had one growing up and he was my best friend, and I really wanted another. Charlie happened to become available last minute at eight weeks old and it was absolutely meant to be - fate if you will - that we were meant to be in each other's lives. He is my best friend and owns my heart! (Bedsides my boyfriend, obviously)

Fat Cat: What’s the best part of being a furry mum?

Jess: We became a two-furbaby family when Charlie's sister was due to have a litter of pups and honestly I just couldn't resist! She is technically Charlie's little niece and together they are my biggest time wasters, biggest distractions, and biggest loves! They absolutely adore each other and spent countless hours playing, swimming, snuggling, smooching and eating (of course)! The best part about being a fur mama is the endless and unconditional love, the happy-faced brightness to come home to at the end of each day, and the cuddles that are like no other.

<img

Do you have an itchy pet?

If you have an itchy pet your first question must be, why is my pet itching? All pets can be itch sometimes and this itch can have a number of causes. The first has to do with the condition of the skin itself: Is it infected? Is it too oily? Is it too dry? Of these three, dry skin is a frequent occurrence. The second major cause is allergies. Your vet is the best person to provide a good diagnosis of any skin problem but we thought we can help you a little bit.

Is It Dry Skin?

One common cause of itching is dry skin. If you live in a region with low humidity, it’s more likely that your dog will have dry skin, which is fairly easy to recognize. When you part your dog’s hair, you see flakes of dandruff in the undercoat, and the skin itself may be cracked and tough. The slightest stimulation of the skin—your gentlest touch—can provoke your dog to scratch violently.

Dry skin can be influenced not only by environmental factors, but also by diet. Commercial pet foods process out the good oils that contribute to healthy skin and a lustrous haircoat. Dry pet foods have an even more dehydrating effect on skin and hair and also stimulate increased thirst, which only partially compensates for the drying nature of these diets.

Or Allergies?

Another common cause of itchy skin is allergies. Allergies may make your dog’s skin dry, greasy, or slightly dry and oily, and are accompanied by frequent scratching, licking or chewing. Whatever the cause, allergies are difficult to address. In the worst cases, afflicted dogs require strong (and potentially toxic) pharmaceuticals just to get some relief. Though allergies are rarely cured, early identification and intervention can keep them under control, and in some cases, can substantially diminish them.

If you haven’t already had a check-up with your vet, take your pet for an assessment and your vet will tailor a program to your needs. Allergy testing and immunotherapy are other options that can give you and your pet relief. For some dogs, food changes may be necessary and there are certainly medications that can be used to control the allergy and treat secondary infections.

Canine Seborrhea

This skin condition is in some ways similar to a condition we humans sometimes get on our own scalps. Everyone knows someone with dandruff and itchy scalp. So imagine how annoying and uncomfortable it is for a dog that has hair all over their body. Overactive sebaceous glands in the skin secrete a greasy, waxy substance that is trapped on the skin by the hair. tIt sometimes collects on the belly, under the armpits, and in the ears, elbows, and ankle area. However, any part of the coat can be involved. It's this fat-laden greasy accumulation that causes the distinctive "doggy odour." Secondary ear and skin infections are very common with seborrhea. Good thing is that it is not contagious.

Dogs with Seborrhea will have itchy or flakey skin, and sometimes an odour due to the excess oil. In some cases, there may be some scabbing. There are a variety of treatments as suggested by your vet. In humans, this condition can be treated by using a shampoo with an anti-yeast ingredient, A dog, however, should have a very mild shampoo with ingredients as lickable as possible and combined with a cream with anti-yeast ingredients. This will clean the excess oil from the skin without irritation, and also control the yeast that can be causing the problem. This will normally keep the skin of your dog healthy and everyone will be happy.

Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common causes of chronic itching in dogs. Atopic dermatitis is caused by an allergic reaction (hypersensitivity) to one or more substances in the environment. Various substances, called allergens, can trigger atopic dermatitis. Dermatitis is usually a chronic condition, with frequent flair-ups occurring seasonally. Dogs with severe skin inflammation or skin infections may need to be treated with oral, topical or injectable medications to manage their disease. Anti-inflammatory drugs, antihistamines and corticosteroids are frequently used to treat the effects of dermatitis in dogs.

What can you do?

First, try to identify where your pet is itching most and see if you can identify the why or if there's is something triggering the itch. Then, talk to your vet. Medicines such as corticosteroids and antihistamines can also be given to control or reduce itching.

Is there a natural alternative?

If you are a pet parent with an itchy pet looking for natural alternatives or if you are currently using anti-inflammatory or steroid creams and you want to try something new, we have a few tips and products that can help your pet.

1) A natural bath

You wouldn’t believe how many harmful ingredients can be found in human and pet products. The majority of grooming products on the market contain synthetic fragrances and sulphates which can be highly irritating and can often cause skin conditions and problems such as dermatitis, allergies, itching, redness & irritated skin. We have had many cases where pet's itchy skin is caused by that synthetic commercial shampoo with the big brand name that pet parents use thinking is great because of the size of that brand. For example, all commercial shampoos use the detergent Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) in almost all wash products. SLS is the ingredient that creates the foaming action but it can also cause irritation to the skin, dryness and in some cases even dandruff.

2) A natural cream

Dr Zoo’s Irritable Skin Cream is designed to help soothe irritated, itchy skin using edible oils and other soothing ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Colloidal Oatmeal, which is a well-known calming ingredient for pet’s skin. This balm is ideal for applying to pet's itchy areas. We also use natural, concentrated anti-inflammatory extracts such as Centella Asiatica, for further calming. Pets with skin problems and allergies are more common every day and our Irritable Skin Cream is an ideal follow on treatment for pets who have completed a prescription course of medicated steroidal creams after the worst of the inflammation has been brought under control. It also is a good alternative for those pet owners that may be concerned about long-term Cortisone use, seasonal allergies or frequently dry spots. For the past four years, our customers have known first-hand the benefits of our cream and thanks to their word-of-mouth recommendations, and we have been helping more and more pets.

Benefits

Antifungal and anti-inflammatory ingredients

We use Edible oils which means pets can lick as much as they like

Free from harsh chemicals, cortisone or steroids
<p

At Dr Zoo, we are very much cat lovers! That’s why we want to highlight the importance of taking care of their skin and fur. Grooming is about more than just keeping your cat looking good, it's about keeping them healthy and content.

You’ve no doubt noticed your kitty washing several times a day. For the most part, they can take care of themselves very well, but sometimes they’ll need a little help from you. Grooming and brushing will improve the health of your cat’s skin and coat and can even help to prevent feline health issues such as digestive problems caused by hairballs.

Regular brushing offers benefits such as removing dead hair and dirt and preventing mats and tangles. Not all cats like to be brushed but with the correct tool and a little of patience, they will get used to grooming time. If you have a kitten, start now and they will grow to enjoy this, if you have a cat and you would like to start grooming them or if you have a little kitten and you want to know how to get started, we've listed some tips below for you to try.

Grooming Tips

- Pick a time when the cat is calm and satisfied. Perhaps after eating.

- Start with 5 minute sessions and go up each session as needed.

- Make sure to have a treat for the end of the session.

- Don’t push too much, if he/she wants to go, leave it, you can try again later.

Remember, when brushing, always brush in the natural direction of the fur and be extra gentle around the belly and chest areas.

- Check your cat’s paws regularly for any cuts, sores, splinters or swellings.

- Aside from causing pain, foreign substances that stick to their feet may end up on her tongue during grooming.

- In hot and cold weather, moisturise them and try to avoid letting your cat’s feet touch freezing floors, hot sidewalks or other uncomfortable surfaces.

Paws & Noses

Cat’s paw pads and noses are delicate. Their paws are engineered to help them be the best predator they can and their noses are cute and their most important sensery organ. Cats have 200 million scent receptors! So we want to take care of these areas really well. Paw pads can become dry and cracked from hot or cold concrete, or can become itchy from a variety of natural elements.

To keep these areas healthy we designed a natural balm to moisturise and protect dry, cracked noses and sore, itchy paws. Ingredients like Shea Butter and Hemp Oil will give the extra moisture their nose and paw pads need. It also contains Natural Vitamin E which will promote a healthy skin. You can apply the balm directly to the nose and paws and you can also use some cool socks to help the product absorb into the skin.

<img

The benefits of a natural bath

Some pet parents think that if their pet is not itchy or they’re not sensitive, they don’t need to use natural shampoo or products made with natural ingredients. Itchy or not, a natural bath is the best way to keep your pet’s skin healthy. Why? There are a few reasons.

First, as with us, our pets only get one skin, which is why we need to care for and protect it as best we can. That’s why it is better to take a natural approach to pet care and use only natural and effective ingredients. We need to look for products that are actually good for their skin and overall health, rather than harmful and damaging. We believe in the natural and safe care of pets. That means we only use natural ingredients that we know are good when ingested. If you could lick 80% of your body you would like to have totally lickable ingredients, right?

Some of the ingredients we avoid are:

- Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) this detergent is used in almost all wash products. SLS is the ingredient that creates the foaming action but it can also cause irritation to the skin, dryness and in some cases even dandruff.

- Added dyes or colourants are linked to serious health problems. Avoid brightly coloured liquids: natural colours in chemical free shampoos usually range from an opaque white to a light yellow.

- Added fragrance or perfumes derived from synthetic chemicals. Artificial fragrances are linked to allergies.

- Parabens are inexpensive and used by many cosmetic manufacturers as a preservative. Natural preservatives exist and they work just as efficiently as chemicals preservatives.

- Silicone creates a synthetic coating, leaving the hair (or fur) with that slippery feeling and leads you to believe that your hair (or pet’s fur) is being properly moisturised. This is not the case, Silicone can coat the skin and fur which can lead to irritation and product build up.

So what do we use instead?

Our products only contain natural and lickable ingredients that are safe and healthy for pets. A favourite amongst our furry friends is the Natural Calming Shampoo. It is made using a combination of six gentle Coconut and Glucose-based cleansers rather than just one detergent (SLS), which can irritate skin. Our gentle formula also includes nourishing ingredients such as Aloe Vera to help soothe and calm the skin. We have also added to our Shampoo Colloidal Rice Bran instead of Oatmeal. Oatmeal has a great reputation as a soothing ingredient, many shampoos for itchy pets use Colloidal Oatmeal as the main ingredient because it has properties that comfort itching and it can help soothe their skin. However, allergies to Oatmeal seemed to be quite common, at least in humans and in animals that have a problem with grain which is why we opt for rice bran instead.

Colloidal Rice Bran is proven to be great at calming delicate skin and is even used by MooGoo for the baby wash. This ingredient is also rich in antioxidants and acts as a skin protectant.

Our Natural Nourishing Conditioner is formulated with natural, edible oils like Jojoba Oil that both moisturise the skin and condition the coat. We also use Piroctone Olamine for its non-irritating, anti-yeast and ani-bacterial properties. Our Fragrant Oil is Phthalate free and is the same one that we use in the MooGoo formulas. It will sooth the skin leave your pet’s smelling nice, without any allergies or reactions. Did you know? Our Conditioner can be left on the coat to help the fur and skin to absorb the conditioning ingredients.

Why should you read the ingredients list?

It would surprise most pet owners that products for pets often do not show the ingredients. To us, it seems so obvious that pet owners need to know what they are putting on their pet’s just like with human products, but most pet products don’t show ingredients. Also, some things that are fine for humans, like Zinc in sunscreens, are not so good for pets. So why isn’t it on the label? Sometimes they do list the ingredients but it’s even scarier to read what they are actually putting on those products. For example, dog toothpaste and mouthwash are mainly sugar. We are passionate believers in letting pet owners know exactly which ingredients we use in our products. That way, owners can research the ingredients themselves to make sure they are healthy for their pets. That’s why we list all of our ingredients and in our website, you can read why we use them. Next time you go to your favourite pet store, check how many products list their ingredients and check them out to see what you are actually using on your beloved furry friend.

<span

It's been one of the hottest summers on record here in Australia and we want to take care of our pets the best way we can. That means Sun Cream, shade and water. Many pet parents may be surprised to learn that their pets need sun protection too just as they do. Of course, pets have natural protection from their fur, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get burnt. As you know, sunburns can be painful, and they can also increase your pet’s risk of cancer, so we need to be mindful of this, especially during summer.

Don’t use pet products containing Zinc Oxide. It’s a common ingredient in Make sure your pup always has access to fresh water and always try to provide shade.

You don’t need to cover your dog in sunscreen all over, just in the areas that will be exposed to the sun. Their hair doesn’t need protection.

<span
